ABOUT OUR FOUNDER

Dr. Dorothy Cooke-Johnson

Dr. Dorothy Cooke-Johnson, a remarkable advocate for cancer awareness and support, established The Barbados Cancer Society (BCS) in loving memory of her husband, Peter Cooke-Johnson, who succumbed to gastric cancer in 1976. Her vision for the BCS was multifaceted, aiming to educate Barbadians about cancer prevention, facilitate access to treatment for those diagnosed, and provide compassionate counseling and support to affected families.
